My interest in art started in high school. I used to draw these absolutely photogenic pencil drawings of girls (faces) taken from magazines for my friends. I would spend forever drawing every nuance. Today, when I paint, I see some thing's value before its color, thanks to those early value studies.
I stopped doing art altogether for nearly thirty years. During this time my creative self built custom furniture, designed a commercial product, and did an occasional drawing. I was a business major in college. An elective class in oil painting gave me the desire to be a full time artist.
I've garnered a lot of awards since I began doing art for a living. As an artist you want to stop people in their tracks and hear them say "WOW! I've got to have that!" It's a great feeling. People see the pretty. They don't see the hard work. Oftentimes you make mistakes, learn, grow. The WOW! moments keep you going.
I have two daughters both in college in art. One in art education, and one in graphic design. I live in Casper, Wyoming with my wife, Kathy, an Accountant. Together, our left and right brains make a pretty good team. My studio is also in Casper, a testament to the fact that you can create art anywhere. Come say hi.
