Thunderbird Artists and the Carefree/Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce partner again this season to produce Carefree’s signature event - the 22nd Annual Carefree Fine Art & Wine Festival, March 17th, 18th & 19th, 2017. The festival will feature LaChaussee Studios, a husband and wife team specializing in glass works, as well as wine tasting, live musical entertainment, fine foods and specialty chocolates.

When Dan and Joi LaChaussee met, they knew instantly they had found their other half. Together they built a life and started a thriving art business.  Each piece is a result of more than 33 years of experience and education (including the renowned Pilchuck glass school) and are original hand blown designs and shapes. The motivation for creating art glass is inspired by immense joy and satisfaction in the work of glass blowing, their children, and each other.  Dan and Joi have found that over time, making art together while teaching their children and assistants to work with glass has made the journey even more exciting.  Each day brings new opportunities to explore potential and create beautiful designs through freedom of expression and ideas.

In addition to the gorgeous sculptures by Dan & Joi LaChaussee, this festival features more than 150 juried, world-class artists displaying over 5,000 original pieces of artwork in a variety of mediums. Wine tasting, as well as rum sampling, is also offered, with a vast array of wines to sample from around the world, while delicious food and delectable chocolates supply the final touches to the unparalleled ambience this festival holds.

The town of Carefree is also sponsoring astonishing sand sculpting by world-renowned artist, Ray Villafane in the pavilion during the event. For the first time Villafane has also invited professional stone balancer, Tim Anderson, a Pennsylvania native, to join him in Carefree to transform the Gardens into an artistic stone stacking playground. Visitors can watch demonstrations, participate and ask questions as Ray and Tim defy the laws of physics without the use of any adhesives other than gravity and stones provided by Mother Nature to create unusual artistic formations in the Desert Gardens pools and around the scenic landscape.

Steel drum extraordinaire, Paul McDermand, and accompanist, grace the stage of the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion and provide background music for attendees while tasting fine wines, indulging in delicious sweets and enjoying the sand sculptor.

This fine art event, widely known as “…a Collector’s Paradise”™, will take place in the heart of downtown Carefree, surrounded by beautiful gardens emphasizing the plants and cacti indigenous to the Arizona desert.  Hours are 10am to 5pm each day. Admission is $3.00 and parking is free all weekend. Join Thunderbird Artists, world-class artists and more at the Carefree Fine Art & Wine Festival, March 17th, 18th & 19th!
