Spring Carefree 2024

Myra Burg & Liz Cummings

Thunderbird Artists, the leading producer of fine art events in the southwest, is thrilled to present the Thunderbird Artists Spring Carefree Fine Art & Wine Festival, our twenty-ninth spring festival in downtown Carefree. The carefully curated selection of fine art ensures that guests are exposed to a diverse range of artistic styles and mediums, allowing them to discover new favorites and expand their artistic horizons. As visitors stroll through the festival grounds, they can engage in conversations with the artists themselves, gaining insight into their creative processes and inspirations. This direct interaction fosters a deeper appreciation for the artwork on display and creates a sense of connection between the artists and attendees. The ambiance is further enhanced by the melodic tunes of live music floating through the air, as well as wine tasting, spirit sampling, ice cold microbrews, savory food, sweet treats and more! This year’s featured artist duo Myra Burg and Liz Cummings.

Myra Burg and Liz Cummings are two individual artists, working with completely separate media, joining forces to create Quiet Oboes – breathtaking art for your soul. Having met while doing art shows, they discovered that the Quiet Oboes worked beautifully with the hues in Liz' Landscape and Mediterranean painting series'. Her colors and countryside images gave birth to abstract landscapes, pure abstract pieces and modern architectural paintings. Iridescent, dimensional and brilliantly simple, the combination have proven to be fresh, luminous and irresistible with a geometry that places a new dimension to the more traditional single, diptych or triptych painting installations. The Quiet Oboe was inspired by the Australian Didgeridoo, an aboriginal musical instrument of wood, hollowed naturally by termites. Our Quiet Oboes are the American cousin, musical in their color combinations and rhythms. The Quiet Oboes have taken over and gone international, with clients in Canada, Mexico, Israel, Saudi Arabia, England, France, Japan, Australia, Africa and other points around the globe.

The festival is also home to 160 other world-class artists displaying pieces in a variety of avenues and subject matters, from paintings in all mediums, to blown glass, hand thrown pottery, wood works, gourd carvings, metalsmithing, small, medium to life-sized sculptures in metal, stone, bronze and mixed-media, to photography, one-of-a-kind jewelry and more!

This spring fine art event, widely known as “…a Collector’s Paradise”™, will take place in the heart of downtown Carefree, surrounded by beautiful gardens emphasizing the plants and cacti indigenous to the Arizona desert.  Hours are 10am to 5pm each day.
